Designing for Flavor
One of the more under-appreciated aspects of designing content is matching the mechanics to the flavor of the associated character or object. Flavor in game design refers to the elements of a character or object that have no impact on the gameplay itself. This can involve a character's history, motivations, emotions, visual style — anything to give a player more context and make the character feel like a real person and not just a game piece.
